That sentence is the whole idea. Cafe 295 lives on the 7th floor of 295 The West Mall in Etobicoke, inside the Jilani Place coworking space, and it was built so that neither half is a compromise: a real specialty coffee shop, inside a real workspace, each one better because of the other.
Step off the elevator and you will see what we mean. Greenery hangs over a white marble bar under a wood slat ceiling, globe pendants glow over the espresso machine, and a dark botanical wall of owls and mushrooms runs the length of the room. Floor to ceiling windows look out over the city. It is a room made for staying a while, whether that means a laptop and a deadline or a long catch up over matcha.
The coffee
Coffee comes first. Arabica beans, roasted and extracted to perfection, dialed in every morning, and if a shot falls short we toss it and pull it again. The matcha is ceremonial grade, whisked to order with a bamboo whisk, and the layered pours have become the signature. Pastries are brought in fresh, and only the best makes the case.
The kitchen
An all day kitchen carries the menu past coffee: breakfast sandwiches, fresh salads and bowls, wraps and smoothies, all made fresh to order. The menu leans healthier without giving up flavour. Every meat we serve is halal, and vegan and lighter options run right through the menu.
Everyone is welcome
You do not need a desk upstairs to drink here. Ride the elevator to the 7th floor, park free with any purchase, and settle in. And if you do work in the building, you already know: the coffee run takes thirty seconds.
